African Handcrafted Chokwe Mask

A wonderful African Chokwe mask that originates from Angola in Africa. The traditional Angolan mask is handcrafted out of bark cloth that is stretched over a ready made mould and then painted with resin and left to set. Once set, the tribal artist then gets ready to apply his talents and paints the mask with the natural earth tone colors of his choice. The mask is then placed with hair in a dread lock form.

There are various designs of the Chokwe mask that all resemble the same design with slight variation.

These Chokwe Angola traditional masks have an original setting and atmosphere. Men and or women that wear masks are fully dressed in traditional tribal clothes depending on the ceremony that is presented that evening.

All sizes listed are approximate. The mask you purchase and receive may differ just slightly in size, look, and/or color from the mask shown in the picture because each mask is handcrafted and hand painted by individual artists.
