African wooden tribal candle holders
Size: 20cm (H) Set of 2
A set of two African hand carved figurines out of lead wood. The wood figurines are of a male and female Zulu tribal couple doing their daily chores. The hand carved wooden carving shows both a male and female Zulu tribesmen with a flat bucket on their heads. These sculptures which look great on their own, can also be used as candle holders as the Zulu figurines can have a candle place in the bucket on their heads. The artist that carved these wooden sculptures originated from KwaZulu Natal in South Africa.
The Zulu people are very famous for their past and in particular the famous Shaka Zulu. He was a ruthless ruler who won many battles in war with his brutal attacking strategies. The Zulu people are well known for their Zulu shields and weapons (African fighting clubs) and their wonderful bead work and basket weaving. The artistry of the Zulu can be seem all around the world and in designer homes.
Each African figurine is an "original" work of art, individually handmade, no two are exactly alike which adds to the value of each piece. The original nature of tribal art will be reflected by variances from the African figurine as shown, each piece of a specific style is similar, but not identical.
