African Handcrafted Zulu Shields
Below we have a selection of African Zulu shields crafted by traditional Zulu craftsmen from South Africa out of Nguni cow hide. Nguni is the local cow found in Southern Africa and is known for the variety of patterns and colours that is found on the hide. These Zulu shields have the 3 clubs attached, the spear known locally as an Assegai, the ball club known locally as the Knob-Kerrie and then the center shaft known locally as Umboko.
We have Zulu shield in various sizes from the small 10cm ornamental shields to the bigger 1m Zulu shields. They have been crafted from Nguni cow hide in the natural colour of the hide. Let us know your colour choice when you order your shield.
The Zulu shields that are below are each handcrafted by individual artists which makes each piece unique and one of a kind and therefore no two pieces are identical, the shields will look similar to the picture in size and look with variances in the patterns that is natural and unique Nguni cow hides.
