An African handcrafted porcupine quill pen that is set with a beaded cap, colorful ostrich feathers and a metal hand piece around the bottom of the pen.
The quills have been obtain legally through conservation authority within South Africa within the KwaZulu Natal region. Porcupines are considered a pest to farmers due to the damage they cause to crops and also a delicacy to locals who favor their meat.
These pens use ostrich feathers that have been dyed various colours that you can see in the picture above.
